The wooden floorboards creaked as he took a step forward. Chet froze, waiting
for the noise to stop. His breath caught in his chest as he resumed edging
forward. His eyes darted around the room as he
continued. "G-Gage? This isn't funny. C'mon, man, answer me!"
He jumped as he was suddenly grabbed from behind. He spun around to see a
grinning Johnny Gage standing behind him, decked in fake spider webs and filmy
black and grey clothing. Chet clutched at his
chest. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"
"What? I thought you liked haunted houses," Johnny quipped as he walked
alongside his friend.
"I've gotta admit, this is a cool one. Chris' school will make a mint off
of this year's Halloween fest."
