Henry’s Lucky Day

By Wanda

The guys couldn't help but notice the young lady walking by Station 51.  Not only was there a young lady, but about 12 dogs that she was walking.

"Too bad Henry's on the couch." teased Marco.

She smiled as she walked the dogs by and immediately Johnny noticed that could be a sign that she was interested in one of them, and of course, it would be him, so he approached her...

"Hi, looks like you've got your hands full there," Johnny said, adding the Gage charm.

"Yes, but not for long, I'm afraid.  The owners of this dog want to give her away to a good home, and it's my job to find her one.  Oh, by the way, my name is Angie."

"Well, I'm Johnny, and maybe we can help take that dog off your hands.  You see, we have one just like it here in the station."

"Oh, so you guys are dog lovers too?"

Suddenly most of the guys rushed out to meet Angie.  She seemed nice enough and who knew, maybe at least one of the guys would get lucky.  All the guys immediately noticed that the dog in question was a Bassett Hound.

"I don't know about another dog, Johnny. Henry is about all we can handle," said the ever-resistant Chet.

"Oh, so you guys have a male Bassett?"  Asked Angie.  "That would be a match made in Heaven!"  she laughed.

"I don't know that we should take on another dog either guys," advised Captain Stanley.

"But look, Cap, how much trouble can she be?  Henry just lays around on the couch and eats, and sleeps and he's a really great dog!"  Johnny was determined.  "What do ya say, guys?"

Finally all agreed to take on another dog and Angie was just thanking them when her husband, Frank, walked up to them, and also began thanking the guys at Station 51.

"Now look what you've got us into,” screamed Chet when Angie and Frank left.

"It'll be fine, just wait and see," said Johnny  "She will be good for Henry."

"We need to think of a name for her though,” said Mike, and all agreed.

The guys couldn't come up with a name for a female dog.  Henry was hard enough (being that the cap had a few concerns with the name choice), but what would they name a female Bassett Hound?  They asked Dixie and she said that she would think about it.

"This isn't fair," said Roy  "Dixie didn't get us into this situation, we need to come up with a name ourselves."

So the guys pondered and thought, Henrietta, Harriet, Hildegard.... the names went on and on and none seemed to fit.  As they were thinking of a name they noticed that Henry wasn't on the couch.  When they went to look for him, he was in the sleeping quarters with the yet unnamed female Bassett Hound.

"Hey, Henry seems to like her," said Marco

"See, I told ya that everything would work out," said Johnny with the infamous Gage told ya so smile!
