What do you think the Emergency! characters' homes looked like? As in style, apartment, house, duplex, etc...and were they furnished a certain way (ie: western, mixture, modern, etc)? We know at least part of the time Johnny was in an apartment, but did he stay in one?
Now I know Johnny bought a house out from under Roy so to speak, but I have
my own thoughts as to what they would ultimately live in...so here
goes.
Roy---3 bedroom, 2 bath split level house on a lot, with a nice size backyard.
Decorated modern with a large kitchen for JoAnne, wall to wall carpet in every
room but the kitchen and baths. Above ground pool in the backyard for the kids,
workshop off the 2 car garage for Roy.
Johnny---3 bedroom ranch style house near the Angelius National Forest, one
story, a fixer upper that he restored, with hardwood floors and
throw rugs in most rooms decorated western, with a lot of Native American
artifacts and many scenic pictures of nature (taken by Johnny) on the
walls. It would sit on an acre or so of land with a small barn for a couple of
horses. Also would have a detached 2 car garage.
Cap...A colonial style house, 4 bedroom, 3 bath house, 2 story on a nice size
lot, wall to wall carpet throughout and alot of antiques for furniture, large
picture windows in the living room. 3 car attached garage.
Mike...3 bedroom condo, two story, with 2 baths. decorated modern with a floor
to ceiling bookcase covering one wall in the livingroom, filled with books on
fire equipment and engines. 2 car garage.
Marco...Small 2 bedroom Spanish style house with a tile roof, 1 1/2
baths...course, decorated Spanish, with a large kitchen so Marco can do the fine
cooking he does. Hardwood floors with area rugs. 2 car garage.
Chet...2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment, decorated modern, but not with a lot of
furniture. Small kitchen, but a nice large living room, with wall to wall
carpeting. Covered parking area for his vehicle.
Captain Stanley - Three bedroom, two story, with one bath. Hardwood floors
with throw rugs. Definitely a study with French doors and a big wooden desk and
firefighting paraphernalia on his book case. A nice patio off of the kitchen and
a beautiful garden with an array of colors that is his wife's pride and joy.
Hank's pride and joy would be his barbecue pit.
Roy - Three bedroom back split level. Lower level would be living room, dinning
room and kitchen. Upper level with three bedrooms and a bath. He'd have a fenced
yard with a shed for his lawn mower and gardening tools. His garage would have a
living space above which Roy has turned into a combination work space/pottery
throwing/spinning area. His house would be decorated with some what of a miss
mash. They'd still have some of the furniture they started out with, but Joanne
is slowly modernizing when they can afford a new piece.
Johnny - Lives in a tiny apartment. Two bedroom and one bath. A small kitchen
and a combination livingroom/dinningroom. His furnishings would be a mixture of
native and modern.
Mike - Very modern, new apartment complex. He'd have a spacious three bedroom.
One his, one a spare, and the third would house the tools of his hobby, whatever
that is. Maybe models. So he'd have a desk and chair, paints, brushes and glues.
All his furnishings would be modern and he'd definitely have wall to wall
carpeting. His complex would have a pool and a weight room. He'd have a small
balcony with a couple of lawn chairs and a small low square table. He'd have his
stereo positioned so one of his speakers could reach outside when he's out
there.
Chet - Two bedroom apartment in an old house that had been renovated into about
5 or 6 apartments. Chet's furnishing would definitely be a mixture of things
he's had for years and stuff he'd received from relatives. He'd have beaded
doorways and lava lamps. Probably a Ouiji board hiding in one of his closets.
Besides the two bedrooms, he'd have a tiny bathroom, probably no tub just a
shower stall, a large livingroom with a large throw rug, an okay sized kitchen
with an area big enough for a table and two chairs. Plus a small room off the
kitchen, probably meant for a pantry but he he uses for storage. His bicycle,
his skis, his guitar, that sort of thing.
Marco - Also a two bedroom apartment. The second bedroom would act as a combined
spare bedroom and office. It would have a fold out couch, a small desk, an end
table and bookcase. A small galley kitchen, and the classic L shaped livingroom/diningroom.
Wall to wall carpeting. He'd also have a balcony with one lawn chair, a table
with a couple of plants on it.
Hank - Craftsman Bungalow house and early American furniture inside, big
enough for him, his wife and children. The house reminds him of the one he lived
in as a child in Iowa.
Chet - California Mission House that was converted into apartments during the
1940s. The interior would be bachelor casual, slightly messy with pictures of
his family on the walls.
Marco - Spanish style. His interior would be California casual, light woods and
colors. He would live near his mother, but far enough that they would lead
separate lives.
Roy - this Raised Ranch style home is what he and Joanne finally decided on when
they bought a house. His previous home was a rental, a very small one level
Ranch. The interior would be a mixture of modern and traditional. Jo's eye for
the modern, as seen in her moddish dress in the pilot, would see lots of avocado
green and gold in the house (think the 70s Show for those too young to remember
those days!). The traditional items would be from Roy's mother.
Johnny - apartment living had its advantages when he was in his 20s, but as his
30s arrived, Johnny longed for space. His aunt left him a small behest upon her
death which he used to buy some land outside of the city. The house is a ranch
style home in the true meaning of the word. Built in 1900, it started as a three
room home that was built upon until it had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a den, a
living room and one bathroom. (For those who have their doubts about Johnny
being able to buy a house, we know he must have good credit as he bought Roy's
house from under him and that would be difficult for a single man.) No horses as
yet, but someday... His furnishings are a southwestern and Native American
mixture, with his photos on the walls and free space, as well as pottery made by
Roy. His kitchen is virtually untouched.
Mike Stoker - another apartment guy until he got married, then it was a small
house similiar to Marco's. Obsessively neat, you could eat off his floors. His
furniture is glass and metal, bright and clean lines.
Dixie - an apartment which we have seen on occasion. A bachelor girl's place.
Kel - an apartment as he doesn't have the time or inclination to keep up a yard.
His furnishings and decorations are out and out American West.
Joe - this Pueblo style home would be filled with art and music, including
framed album covers from some of the greats in jazz and blues. He has to travel
to get to the hospital as this home is in the desert between Los Angeles and
Nevada, but he considers it worth it for the peace and quiet.
Mike Morton - a townhouse which he considers a good investment. The interior is
like walking into a small blues club, with dark walls and a superior sound
system on one wall. Mike is rarely home and wants a place he can relax, have a
drink and kick back while wonderful music is weaving a spell around him.
Mike lives in a townhouse that's decorated in a modern (for the 70's) style.
Chet lives in a single bedroom apartment that is just right for a single man. It
isn't lusciously decorated, but nice, and he actually keeps it clean.
Marco lives in a two bedroom Spanish style house. It is decorated with lots of
Latino looks, including colors and furniture. It's just big enough for him to
have friends over, and still small enough for a bachelor.
Johnny lives in a two bedroom apartment, which he has furnished in a western
motif. He has converted one of the bedrooms into a game room, and enjoys having
the guys over, or one of his many lady friends.
Roy lives in a three bedroom Cape Cod type house. JoAnne has great taste in
decorating, and has done the entire house. Their daughter's room is done in
pink, while their son's has a car motif. She has their room done in tans and
peaches, and Roy has his den while JoAnne has a craft room. They always have
room in the large back yard for entertaining.
Hank lives in a three bedroom colonial type house. His wife has done some of the
decorating, but hired the rest done. Their walls are eggshell throughout, and
the furniture varies from room to room. They also have quite a few antiques.
Joe lives in a log house. He has it decorated with a very rustic style, perfect
for him. There is a piano in the den, and he often has guests over.
Kel lives in a two bedroom upscale apartment. He has very nice furniture, and a
maid who comes twice per week to clean for him. He doesn't have many people
other than Dixie over.
Dixie lives in a townhouse that's decorated very femininely. She has lots of
eyelet on her curtains and her bedspreads match. She has things color
coordinated with lots of mauve, and some neutral colors. She has modern
furniture, and art.
Morton lives in a nice two bedroom apartment. It is warmly decorated with jazz
records adorning the wall in his den. He often has a lady over, but isn't big on
entertaining. He keeps his apartment very clean.
Roy - a two-story, three bedroom home kind of like the one in 'Father Knows
Best'. And a garage attached. There is a LR, Den, diningroom, eat-in kitchen and
half-bathroom downstairs. The upstairs is the three bedrooms and a full
bathroom. They're in a suburb where there are about four styles of houses total,
so many look alike. The kitchen is white appliances. Overall furnishings are
what you'd find in the average house and gold shag carpet. A storage shed is in
the backyard.
Johnny - Lives in a one bedroom apartment. The entry way is into the LR, the
kitchen is across from it. On another side of the room, there is a very short
hallway that has a linen closet, bathroom and bedroom off of it. The furniture
is a brown tweed couch, a chair that folds out into a bed, a coffee table and an
end table with a typical non-fancy lamp. The kitchen appliances are harvest gold
and the carpet is gold shag. He's got a double bed and wooden dresser in his
room and a nightstand with a lamp, alarm clock and phone.
Hank Stanley - Lives in a one-story ranch style house that has the bottom brick
and upper half yellow painted wood. It's four bedrooms, with a garage attached.
He has a work shed in the back yard. They have a green shag carpet and avocado
appliances. Furniture is average of what you'd find in a home. They have a LR,
diningroom, eat-in kitchen, game room, den/office and a long hallway with the
four bedrooms and a full-bathroom off of it. Then the master bedroom has a
full-bathroom off of it.
