I Did It!

By Peggy Bedingfield

Ayup, I did it. I was tired of having the mess just hanging around so I did it.

I bet Cap'll be happy now, and McConnikee, too.

Yeppers, I did it, without having to even be told. Um Hmmm.

Bet even Roy won't belive this! I can't believe I did it.

Well, guess I better get out there and let them see me.

Wonder what they'll say? Okay, here goes!

Johnny stepped out of the locker room and joined the others in line-up. No one spoke, but all eyes were glued to the lanky dark haired paramedic.

"Wow!" Marco muttered in surprise.

"Don't believe it!" Chet said and Mike nodded in agreement.

Roy grinned and said, "I knew you could do it without being told."

Captain Stanley walked around the squad and stopped in surprise, a pleased look crossed his face.

"Well done, Johnny. I'm proud of you!"

Johnny grinned and ducked his head. About that time in walked McConnikee.

"What's all this who-hah I'm hearing?" He looked at each man then stopped his gaze on Johnny. "Well as I live and breathe. Well done, John. Well done."

"Fine looking group of men, Hank. Carry on. My reason for coming is taken away. Gentlemen, have a good day."

Captain Stanley gave a weak grin as his superior walked away. Turning to the paramedics he said, "Johnny, I'm glad you cut your hair before McConnikee had to say anything."

The men laughed then filed from the truck bay and in to the day room to begin their shift on a lighter note than the day before.
