Dixie says she wishes they could say the same for the Patterson girl .

Joe asks if the girl was the one who took the reds that were laced with the Sodium hydroxide
Dixie: "Yeah, that's right." She goes on to say that they are going to have to do a procedure on the girl.
Dixie: "She'll be lucky if she keeps one third of her stomach."
Joe: "That's rough. Do they know how it happened?"
Dixie: "mmm hmm."
Dixie: "Police turned up a classmate of hers."
Dixie: "She was mad because the Patterson girl was making a play for her boyfriend."
Dixie: "Thought she'd teach her a lesson."
Joe shakes his head.
Joe: "Drugs."
Joe: "That's three rough cases we had today."
Dixie nods slightly as Joe goes on: "One's gonna lose a chunk of her stomach, another her hand. . ."
Joe: "And the third may lose his life."
Joe: "You think they'll ever learn?"
Dixie: "Oh they'll learn alright, Joe. Mostly when it's too late."

Next scene is at Rampart
Brackett comes out of room where he has been with a patient
Brackett shakes his head at the odd situation of the patient.
He spots Joe Early
Brackett tells Early he has a patient that is into one of those occult groups
The patient is a 24 year old man who thinks he is under a voodoo spell
And does Joe feel up to lifting a *curse*
Joe watches Brackett leave
He goes in to see the patient
Joe talks to the man. Seems he can't move his right arm.
The man explains he doesn't think Early can help him
It's beyond science
And he can't remember the name of the *other guy* (Brackett) but he told him the same thing.
Joe listens
He tells him he's lifted curses before
The patient asks if he believes
Joe says he not only believes, he knows
Dixie observes
Joe pinches the guy's arm to see if he feels it. The guy smiles and says "no."
Joe tells him it's a disassociative curse
The man says he's never heard of it
Joe starts with his *cure*
He tells the man to take a deep breath
And let it out slowly
Joe starts to pour water in a bowl
He has the man take another breath and let it out slow
He has him breath in deep again as he continues to pour the water
Dixie reminds Joe he needs to tell his patient to exhale
The man is still trying to hold his breath
He is relieved after Dixie reminds Joe and he is instructed to exhale.
Joe brings the bowl of water over
He asks if the man's fingers and toes are tingling
And if he's lightheaded. He answers "Yes."
Joe swipes a wet object across his arm
He tells the man to take a drink
Joe tells him to use his right arm. The curse is lifted and not to be afraid.
The man starts to move his fingers
He takes his hand off his chest
His fingers move freely
The man is grateful to the doctor
A happy patient continues to move his hand
Still moves it

He asks the doctor how does he stop it.
