The View By Terribv
|
John Gage and Roy DeSoto sat outside enjoying the cool evening breeze enjoying a cold beer. Both men sat took pleasure in the scenery that was laid out before them. The setting sun was picturesque and appeared to be brushed by the hand of God.
“What a sight,” Johnny commented, his eyes full of wonder at the sight in front of him. Mother Nature never ceased to amaze him.
“Beautiful,” Roy agreed.
“You are a lucky man to have found a house with such a panoramic view.”
Roy smiled and his eyes twinkled. “Yep, the view is amazing. And I am one lucky man.”
“I bet it’s just as beautiful in the morning too, isn’t it? "
Roy nodded. “You have no idea.”
The two men sat in silence as the sun continued to set. The sky was bathed in a gentle apricot with red streaks of twilight intermingled.
“It’s no wonder that you’re always in a hurry to get home,” Johnny said breaking the silence.
“Who wouldn’t want to come home to this,” Roy responded with a smile.
“One day I’m gonna get me a house with a great view like this,” Johnny added as he sipped his beer.
“I hope you do, Junior. I hope you do.”
Johnny cast a sideways glance at his partner and friend and sighed, “Roy, you aren’t even looking for crying out loud. You’re missing the view.”
Roy’s smile grew wider and his blue eyes sparkled with merriment. “No, I’m not. I’ve got the best view in all of LA,” he said.
“I know, and you aren’t even lookin’ at it.” Johnny cried as he spun around in his chair following Roy’s line of vision. “What’re you lookin’ at that’s better than this setting sun."
Roy nodded toward the house. “Them,” he said as he silently counted his blessings.
Through the window Johnny could see Joanne, Roy’s wife, as she sat at the kitchen table with their daughter on her lap, and her arm around their son, Chris. The three of them laughing.
Johnny, too, smiled at the sight. “The best of both worlds, huh Roy. A great view looking out …”
“And an even better view looking in,” Roy finished. “A beautiful view,” he added smiling. “That’s what its all about.”
The inspiration for this song came from Lonestar’s “My Front Porch Looking In”.
