“Cap? You wanted to see me?”
“Come on in, pal.”
“What’s up?”
“I figured you’d want to see this by yourself.” (beat) “The results came in. I’d say congratulations are in order.”
“Second? I came in second?”
“You sound surprised.”
“I guess I am.”
“Don’t be. You’ve shown your abilities time and again.”
“Thanks, Cap.”
“It’s the truth. You earned this promotion.”
“Pardon my forwardness, but you don’t seem too happy about it.”
“I am, pal, but it won’t be easy replacing the best in the department.”
“Thanks.” (pauses reflectively a moment, then brightens) “Maybe we’ll have the chance to work together.”
“That would be terrific. Congratulations, Captain Stoker.”
