Trainee Dog Challenge

Johnny tossed the handbag to his partner,
then walked over to the squad. He extracted the canteen of water and took
several long pulls. He wiped at the sweat heavily gathered along his forehead.
After giving the handbag back to its elderly owner, Roy walked over to join his
regular and temporary partners. "You okay, Johnny?"
The dark-haired paramedic waved away his friend's concerns as he swallowed his
latest mouthful of refreshing water. "Sure, no problems!"
"No problems?" Ed Marlowe queried. "But the script says you're supposed to have
a run-in with a dog!" The paramedic trainee reached into the squad and pulled
out a loosely-bound sheaf of papers. He pointed to the middle of a pink-paged,
revised version of the day's shooting.
Johnny glanced at the words. "Oh, that." He shrugged, unconcerned. "Like I said,
no problem!"

In a small yard a block away, a tall, dark-haired
man dressed in a light blue shirt and black slacks rolled in the dirt, as a huge
mixed breed, tail wagging, licked his face. The dog then grabbed his pants leg
and playfully pulled it back and forth.
"The next time Gage says he can do his own stunts," Johnny Gage's Stunt Double
growled, "he can have the job! Let go, you stupid mutt!"
A dirty-blonde-haired woman stepped off the back stoop of the house. In a
slightly ditzy voice, she intoned, "It's all right! He's just playing! He just
loves people!!"
