Watches and Wonders – Limelight Bloopers

By Audrey W.

After taking care of the babysitter with the three rowdy boys, the paramedics followed behind the ambulance to Rampart. With no IV having been established on the woman, and no indication of a serious problem, neither Johnny nor Roy were required to ride in with her.

As Roy drove along, his partner gave him a couple of puzzled looks. The senior paramedic noticed the action out of the corner of his eye.

“What’s with you?”

“Huh?”

“You’ve been giving me strange looks since we left that house.”

“Oh. . .well, I was just wonderin’”

“What?”

“How you took that woman’s pulse without your watch.”

Roy glanced at his partner and shrugged. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. My watch is right here,” he said, slightly raising his left wrist.

“But it wasn’t there when you took her pulse.”

This time DeSoto kept his eyes straight ahead. “Sure it was. How else could I have taken her pulse?”

“That’s what I was wonderin’!”

“How about that dog,” Roy said, quickly changing the subject.

“Well, now him I can understand.”

“You can?”

“Uh huh. I figure he must’ve seen the kids’ reflections in the glass doors, so when they called him, he ran the wrong direction. And he took a pretty good lick in the head.”

“But what about the BP cuff on his neck?”

“I’m gettin’ to that. The way I see it, he probably was a little out of it after that hit. So he was too stupid to do anything but sit there and let those kids nearly strangle him with the cuff.”

“If you say so.”

“But that still doesn’t explain one thing.”

“What’s that?”

“Your watch.”

“I guess you could say it was all in the timing.”

“Ha ha,” Johnny responded, staring straight ahead. And I thought *Brice* could be annoying . . .
